Happy Heavenly Birthday, Papoo 🎂💫
It seems like my grandfather’s birthdays have become milestones for launching new business adventures. This year, I’m excited to kick off THANKFUL Thursdays with a tribute to him and the powerful legacy he left behind.
Today, I am THANKFUL for not one but two incredible grandfathers – Henderson Harris and James Churchwell Sr. – who nurtured the entrepreneurial spirit that flows through me. 🌱✨
Both of my grandfathers were more than their careers; they were businessmen in the truest sense. They taught me invaluable lessons that I still carry with me today, and for that, I am deeply THANKFUL. 🙏🏽
They played behind-the-scenes roles, partnering with small business owners in the community. Though their names weren’t on the store signs, their impact was immense. By providing both financial support and business guidance, they empowered these small businesses to flourish. 💼🤝
In addition to their silent partnerships, both my grandfathers ran their own businesses. Without fancy branding or storefronts, they built enterprises on the strength, integrity, and reputation of their names. Whether people needed a loan (what we’d now call payday loans), car repairs, or skilled carpentry, they knew they could turn to my grandfathers for reliable, excellent service. It was a time when reputation alone was a currency for success. 💪🏽🔧
As a little girl, I remember asking my grandfathers a million questions, to which they responded with patience and wisdom. Their answers, often just simple advice, nurtured a belief in myself that I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. 💡💖
Today, on what would have been Papoo’s 125th birthday, I am THANKFUL for the living example of resilience, integrity, and the entrepreneurial spirit that my grandfathers passed down to me.
So, as we kick off this month of THANKFUL Thursdays, I’ll ask you: What are you THANKFUL for this Thursday? 🧡
